Problems with Apple’s iPhone v1.1.3 firmware; wacky SMS text messaging bug with iPhone v1.1.3, Bluetooth sync bug, mail problems, iBricks

iPhone v1.1.3 firmware problemsWe were stoked to hear that Apple finally decided to bring the SMS text message interface up to par with every other text messaging application on market. The iPhone v1.1.3 firmware added multiple-contact support for SMS text messaging - allowing you to send the same text message to multiple recipients, without having to tap out a new message for each individual contact.

Not to mention WebClips and homescreen customization.

Well, it turns out the new firmware isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

Bluetooth, Mail problems
There are reports that iPhone users who updated their iPhone to the new v1.1.3 firmware have lost Bluetooth compatibility with certain Bluetooth headsets. Others are complaining of email download problems - it seems the iPhone’s Mail application has ceased to download any new email.

SMS text messaging anomalies
The Apple support forums are also starting to fill with posts that seem to detail problems with the SMS text messaging application. Some v1.1.3 updaters are experiencing out-of-order text message threads.

Where normal SMS-conversations should look like:

me: hi
friend: wats up
me: nothing

They now look like this:

me: hi
me: nothing
friend: whats up

Say it ain’t so!
Even worse are the rare report that attempts to apply the iPhone v1.1.3 firmware update has resulted in the dreaded iBrick. Apparently, some users have been left with a completely dead, non-functional iPhone. These iPhones can’t even be restored thorugh iTunes - unfortunate.

Anyone else out there experiencing problems after updating their iPhone to the v1.1.3 firmware? Let us know in the comments.

My problem is worse…it dropped my unlimited data feature, and randomly charges me random amounts (go phone payment plan) I’ve had to call twice to get reimbursed. Apple doesn’t seem to even know about the problem, and at&t says there’s a bug in the system with Iphones. Go figure…

If anything, there should be an acknowledgement from Apple to let all of us know when the “fix” is coming. To revert back to the old firmware also causes a loss of settings we have to weigh what is best, go back and restart everything or deal with the problems till a fix comes. Oh, Quality Assurance should have caught this before it went out as well as Product Verification. Hmm, hire a couple more employees and test the thing next time.
