Apple iPhone Competitors / "Killers"
Apple iPhone Competitors
It was inevitable. In a world full where anything slightly desirable or trendy is emulated and duplicated, the Apple iPhone already has some competition.
Apple iPhone Clones / Rip-offs
Just as with competition, anything slightly desirable or trendy is ripped-off and counterfeited, the Apple iPhone already has some clones - mostly from China, land of barely-there trademark regulation.
Chinese manufacturer, Meizu, claims to have been working on their M8, renamed as the "miniOne," before Apple announced their iPhone. We're not putting much confidence in the Chinese manufacturer's claim. The Meizu miniOne has recently undergone a slight design revision in the hopes of mitigating litigation from Apple's legal team. HTC has released their Apple iPhone competitor just in the nick of time. On June 5th, HTC announced their HTC Elf-based HTC Touch for sale in the UK. The Touch features a stylus and finger-gesture interface, dubbed the TouchFLO. The new interface is a first for HTC, but is in no way innovative (the scrolling and sweeping gestures used in the iPhone are basically emulated in TouchFLO).

We don't know if this iPhone inspired phone is actually going to make it in the ultra-competitive mobile phone market, but we give it a thumbs-up for trying!

The Neonode N2 uses similar finger-gesture inputs for navigating around the button-minimized device.

In the hopes of riding the iPhone's media-wake, Chinese manufacturer CECT has released the P168, iPhone clone. The phone copies the iPhone's wallpaper, startup images (Mac OS), and even the metal-framed 3.5 inch touchscreen. But the P168 sports a set of six hardkeys for simple navigation, a 1.3MP camera (despite CECT's attempt to turn a 1.3MP camera into a 2MP unit with the use of a simple sticker), 6-speaker "3D" surround sounds, dual SIM, and media playback. For the uninitiated, this clone could easily pass for a genuine iPhone, but we know better.

The Hua Long IP2000. It kinda looks like an iPhone, and it's even got a touchscreen, but the dual-band GSM phone is noticeably thicker, has a crap UI, and is adorned with a huge, gaudy Apple logo on the backside. Still, if you want a dual-band (read: not usable in US) GSM Phone with 3.5 inch LCD, 2 megapixel shooter, and USB connection.

Fuijan Huamin Import and Export Company is hocking their "newly" (sic) Apple IPHONE on their website - alongside other Apple product rips. The specs seem to match, more or less, the feature set of the Apple iPhone, but you can bet that the quality is sub-par crap. If anybody gets their hands on one of these units, please drop us a line. We could use a good laugh.

We don't know what to say about this new Apple iPhone competitor from Microsoft - the oPhone. So, instead of fumbling around and trying to justify this apparent joke, we're gonna let the video do the talking. It's actually pretty funny!
